You can even take a bus from Bangalore. There are plenty of Volvo buses that leave the Bangalore main bus stand starting as early as 6.30 AM.
Ask for the Ooty bus. Get off in Mudumalai at the Theppakadu junction.
Please inform the driver as it is not a regular stop. We can send a jeep for you upon request.
